News from No Kid Hungry

On Sunday, October 9, at 9:00 P.M. EST, the candidates square off for their second debate in a town hall format. Anchors Martha Raddatz and Anderson Cooper will be taking questions from audience members as well as those posed by internet sources, including the website operated by the Open Debate Coalition.

There are new numbers out this week showing that fewer kids and families are going hungry. According to the USDA, we’re seeing the lowest levels of food insecurity since the 2008 recession.

The Colorado No Kid Hungry Campaign is focused on increasing participation in the following programs:

  • Summer Food Service Program
  • School Breakfast Program
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children “WIC” and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program
  • Child and Adult Care Food Program
  • Afterschool Nutrition Programs
  • Nutrition education classes
  • Federal Earned Income Tax Credit
